Title:
Interrogation skills: a modular training concept for investigative interrogation techniques and implementation of the Mendez Principles
Abstract:
This theoretical paper describes a curricular structure for the acquisition of interrogation skills. The authors understand investigative interviewing as a core police competence that can be taught and learned. The content of the didactic development is based on the United Nation supported Mendez Principles and the current interrogation methods that follow them. The result is a four-stage teaching concept with a modular structure. The individual training and further training levels are adapted to structural official requirements. The modularization enables different levels of thematic specialization in line with requirements. The curriculum is variable in its levels and modules, but not in terms of the content presented. These are described both in the overview and in detail as an example of a 5-day training course.
