Title:
Which political factors explain the implementation of gun and knife ban zones?
Abstract:
The article focuses on the question of which political factors can explain the implementation of gun and knife ban zones. Based on theoretical and empirical work from policy research, the analysis uses data on 32 cities and a logistic regression as well as the QCA method to work out the impact of political factors on the implementation of gun and knife ban zones. Although the generalizability of the findings is limited due to the small number of cases, the analysis contributes both to the scientific discussion and to the social, media, political and security authority debate on this measure of domestic security policy that restricts fundamental rights.
